FUNERAL SERVICES: Private family grave side services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the St. Valentine Cemetery the Bend area of Jasper County, IL. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Oblong American Legion Post #219.

Lloyd E. Shook, 93, Oblong, IL passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at Newton Care Center, Newton, IL.
Lloyd was born on June 20, 1922 in Jasper County, IL and was the son of Roy A. Shook and Pearl (Miller) Shook. On March 31, 1951 he married Dorla Dean Ikemire and they had been married for 64 wonderful years.
Lloyd started as an auto mechanic at Hughes Ford Auto Dealership in Oblong and then at Matheny’s Auto in Oblong where he retired in 1985. Lloyd served his country in World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Valentine Catholic Church in the Bend areas of Jasper County, IL and also a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed working on all types of electronics, mowing, planting trees and then cutting them down so mowing was much easier. Lloyd really enjoyed trading cars and on some occasions he would trade more than one car in a day.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Dorla D. Shook of Oblong, IL; three sons and daughters-in-law Mark E and Lisa Shook of Lawrenceville, IL, Thomas C. and Patricia Shook of Tucson, AZ and Steven W. and Alma Shook of Wilsonville, OR; three daughters and sons-in-law Linda D. and Ted Brush of Robinson, IL Carolyn M. and Randy Brannon, of Palestine, IL and Susan E. Hall of Robinson, IL; twenty grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law Howard G. and Gladys Shook of Plainview, TX, Raymond B. and Cheryl Shook of Greenup, IL and Roger D. Shook of Oblong, IL; one sister Velma I. Shook of St. Mary, OH; one sister-in-law Carol Shook of Oblong, IL; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lloyd in death are is parents; three brothers Herman, Paul and Argo Shook; one sister Blanche Snyder; two sisters-in-law Lillie Shook and Joan Shook and two brothers-in-law Donald McCormick and Ralph Snider.
